Why labels for pharmaceutical products?
Apart from the medical leaflet and the outer packaging, the label on the product is one of the most important sources of information. The customer must be able to see at first glance what product they have in front of them, how to use it, who made it and how much of the product is in which form. At the same time, of course, the label is also an advertising space and must not only inform the customer, but also visually appeal and convince them of the quality of the content. These materials are suitable
Labels for products in the pharmaceutical or medical sector often have to meet special requirements in terms of material and adhesive. For example, depending on the product and application, they must be oil- or water-resistant, adhere reliably even at temperatures below freezing, or be easily removable.
Film labels made of PE or PP film are therefore particularly suitable for most applications in the pharmaceutical sector. They are water- and oil-resistant and at the same time have a permanent, reliable adhesion. These film labels are also available as removable labels with a special adhesive layer. This allows subsequent correction or – if desired – removal of the product without leaving any residue.
Our special material Tyvek® is also suitable for pharmaceutical and medical products. This consists of a non-woven material made of PE fibers. Multiple layers create a particularly robust, tear-resistant, water- and oil-resistant material.
Another way to protect your label from abrasion, moisture or contact with oil is to apply a film lamination. This transparent film (matte or glossy) is pulled over the label and covers the printed image as a protective layer.
Barcode labels for pharmaceutical products
Barcodes, numbering or other codes are particularly commonly used for pharmaceutical products. For inventory, serialization or as a classic barcode for trade. Thanks to digital printing, individual barcodes can be printed easily and razor-sharp. All we need is a list of codes. Based on this, we generate your individual barcode labels.
Good to know:
Since February 2019, prescription drugs for human use may only be marketed if the primary packaging contains the following information:
- name of the drug
- qualitative + quantitative composition of active substances
- pharmaceutical form and content
- list of excipients with mechanism of action
In addition, the drugs must have additional safety features that prevent possible tampering or make the drug instantly recognizable. This includes, for example, the original seal. For detailed information, please refer to the Falsification Directive 2011/62/EU.
