Professional labels for disinfectants

Until August 31, 2020, only the pharmaceutical industry and pharmacies were allowed to produce certain hand disinfectants for private households. In order to supply not only to medical and healthcare facilities but also to private households, the chemical industry and public legal entities are now also authorized to produce hand disinfectants. We understand that for many manufacturers this changeover presents a number of bureaucratic hurdles and obstacles. That’s why we try to make ordering your labels as easy as possible. In our information box above you will find an overview of the mandatory information that must be included on hand disinfection labels according to the EU Biocide Regulations of May 22, 2012 under Article 69.

Material and properties

According to the EU biocide regulation, all information on the label must be clearly legible and indelible. To ensure this, we recommend permanently adhesive labels made of PP and PE film in matte or glossy. Using a thermal transfer printer (not to be confused with direct thermal printers), you can then print batch number, production date and expiration date. If you have a direct thermal printer, we recommend our direct thermal paper. If you are having trouble creating the graphics, we will be happy to create your labels for you using our design service. We will design your labels to your specifications and all you have to do is approve them before production begins.

What disinfectants can be produced?

• 70 percent isopropanol
• a mixture of isopropanol with hydrogen peroxide and glycerol
• mixtures of ethanol and water

Since the situation is constantly changing in this regard, we recommend that you seek information and assurance from your professional associations.
NOTE: Disinfectants prepared with ethanol may be simplified labeled if the content does not exceed 125 ml. However, simplified labeling is not permitted for propanol due to the hazard statement H336!
