The story
In 2021 we, Damiaan van den Dool and Coen Hoftijzer, started Le Stagioni in Utrecht. It started as a hobby in Damiaan’s garden. The overflowing plum tree in the backyard gave us the idea to make a plum drink. The result was a drink that everyone was very enthusiastic about. Because our plum drink had a warm and autumnal character, the idea arose to make a drink for every season. The drinks in our collection bring to life the flavors and scents of spring, summer, autumn and winter. Our newest drink is the summer liqueur, Giulia. With vibrant notes of orange, lemon and a hint of ginger, this liqueur perfectly reflects sunny summer days.
Design
At Le Stagioni we are all about capturing the essence of each season, both in the taste and appearance of our bottles. For the label design of our summer liqueur “Giulia,” the challenge was to make it immediately clear that this bottle reflects summer. The “Summer” theme of the label is reflected in two elements. First, in the tree, our logo. The tree is divided into four parts, with one part for each season. In the label for our summer drink, the summer part appears prominently. Secondly, parts of the label are done in a summery green hue, which makes the whole thing even more vibrant.

Material
For the material of our labels, we chose silver PP foil with a matte film lamination. This choice came from two important wishes: first, we wanted to give the colored parts of the label a glossy effect to attract even more attention. unieketiket.nl gave us fantastic advice on this, achieving the desired result. There was also a practical factor involved, the label had to be resistant to water, something that is important when storing and using our products. Film lamination provides that protection, while making the shiny parts of the label stand out even more.
Challenges
When choosing the material for our labels, we ran into some challenges. For example, one of our wishes was to have the shiny elements in our design done as a foil embossing. As a start-up company with a small-scale production, this did not seem feasible for us; we would have to order thousands of labels to come up with a good price per label. Fortunately, with the help of unieketiket.nl, this was solved and we found an excellent alternative in the silver PP film material.
