How it began
Fawwaz Suleiman came to the Netherlands in 1997 as an Iraqi refugee. He studied computer science in Iraq, but once he arrived in the Netherlands, working was not an option for the time being; in his case, the asylum procedure proved to be a lengthy and intensive process. After 6 years of settling in and going through procedures, Fawwaz finally received his residence permit. By now his IT knowledge had become outdated and in 2003 Fawwaz started working at a deli in Groningen, which also sold Arabic baklava. The baker who produced this baklava wanted to quit his bakery and offered to Fawwaz to take over. This pleased him and so he founded the company Anoesh.

The product
After the acquisition, Fawwaz was suddenly a baker! After setting up a baklava web shop with delivery service, sales increased rapidly. The baklava is traditionally baked in a stone oven in their own bakery and prepared with fresh products such as puff pastry with butter, pistachio or walnuts and sugar water.
“Eating starts first with the eyes and then
the mouth.”

The labels
The design of the labels for the baklava was made by a designer a few years ago and the labels were printed then as well. Not entirely satisfied with the look of the labels, Fawwaz looked for something different and ordered the free sample book from unieketiket.nl. The choice fell on the natural paper cream-white material, with its artisanal look exactly the material he was looking for. To be absolutely sure, he ordered a Basic proof and was then convinced. The labels are now adorning the baklava packaging, generating a lot of nice reactions from customers!
