Labels on roll vs labels on A4/A4+ sheet

Which option is most suitable for my application?

At unieketiket.nl you can have your labels delivered either on roll or on sheet. Both production methods have their own advantages and disadvantages and are more or less suitable for different applications and different situations. We explain when, which method of delivery is most suitable for your labels. Finally, we will discuss the difference between A4 and A4+ sheets.

General differences

1. How will you process/apply the labels to the product?

The first major difference is in how you will apply the labels to the product. Self-adhesive labels on rolls are ideally suited for machine processing with a labeling machine. When ordering, you can specify how the rolls should be delivered so that they can be processed by your labeling machine. Please refer to the specifications of your labeling machine as to:

• The winding direction
• Roll core diameter
• The outer diameter of the roll or the number of labels per roll

All options for roll configuration can be found on our roll configuration page . Labels or stickers on sheets are not suitable for machine processing and are ideal if you apply the labels to your products by hand.

2. The size of the print run

Another important difference concerns circulation. In general:

• Labels on rolls are better suited for larger runs.
• Labels on sheets are ideal for orders with smaller quantities of labels.

3. Choice in materials and finishes

Both roll and sheet labels are completely free to design in shape, size and design.
However, there are differences in the choice of material and finishing of labels:

• For labels on rolls, you can choose from more than 15 different materials in our calculator. It is also possible to apply a special finish, such as hot foil stamping.
• For sheet labels, the choice of materials is more limited. Also, for sheet material, it is not possible to apply refinements such as spot varnish.

The most suitable solution always depends on your specific requirements and application, and can therefore be considered individually for each order!

A4+ labels explained

unieketiket.nl supplies labels on sheets with a size of minimum A4 and maximum A4+.

• A DIN A4 sheet has a fixed size of: 210 x 297 mm
• An A4+ sheet has no fixed size, but is larger than A4 size
• An A4+ sheet has (with us) a maximum size of: 220 x 330 mm
  The maximum dimensions of your label on sheet can be:
• 200 mm wide
• 275 mm high

The advantage of A4+ sheets

A4+ sheets are slightly larger than the standard A4 size. This is especially useful when producing labels with a special shape, as they can be placed more efficiently on the larger sheet. This makes the production of A4 labels more efficient and environmentally friendly. Note: We cannot specify in advance exactly what size sheet you will receive. This is determined automatically during print preparation, based on the number and size of labels you order. The most efficient size sheet is selected automatically. This prevents waste and minimizes production time.
